Radio & Trunking Press Release

British Virgin Islands Police & Fire a 5 Site, 30 channel, MPT Trunking system

June 2011 - Radio & Trunking have won the bid to provide a wide area MPT1327 trunking radio system to be deployed on the British Virgin Islands in 2011. The system will support the Fire and Police departments. The success of a neighbouring MPT1327 system in the USVI - St Croix, St John and St Thomas provided by Radio and Trunking served as a bench mark and test case for the procurement of the new system in the British VI.

System Deployment For Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company Ltd

May 2011 - Radio & Trunking have completed final deployment of a 2 channel Fylde Micro MPT1327 system for Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company Ltd. The 2 site system covers a wide operational area and is vital to the plants safe running. SAMREF is a complex refinery which was formed for the development, construction, ownership and operation of crude oil refining facilities in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. Radio and Trunking with its in region partner was picked by SAMREF because of its reputation supplying high quality radio systems within the Oil and gas industry.

April 2011 - Multilingo TSC04 will be the 4th generation Fylde trunking controller. TSC04 will support MPT1327, DMR, dPMR and conventional systems. More than that, TSC04 has been designed to support these protocols within the same radio site. This allows customers to select their protocol of choice.

- DMR is technically more demanding to manufacture than FDMA solutions and require approximately half the number of repeaters and associated antenna equipment. DMR may eventually support duplex operation and could provide better performance for emergency calls.

- dPMR may be easier to upgrade from legacy analogue equipment. The analogue repeaters could possibly be reconfigured to 6.25kHz channel spacing and the receiver might be good enough to support the digital decoding.

Periodically, the Directives relevant to the batteries and battery-chargers used in Motorola Professional and Commercial portable radios are updated by the EU. In order to ensure that all of our products continue to meet the latest versions of the requirements, we are making some changes that mean many of the part numbers in use today will be cancelled and replaced by new versions. This applies to option numbers used when ordering as part of a radio and also the accessory number used when ordering the battery or charger standalone. Once the changes are made, the new part numbers must be used where the requirement is for CE-marked products. The changes to batteries only impact currently shipping radios – no changes are being made for battery parts for legacy, cancelled radios. We are also standardising the methodology used for quoting battery capacities.
